The Bond of Brotherhood

Islam was never meant to be practised in isolation — and no isolation is sharper than a prison cell. The Bond of Brotherhood is Beckah Foundation's outreach to Muslims who are incarcerated. Many of them came to Islam inside; some were born to it; almost all are cut off from the ummah and waiting for one person to remember them.

Inside the walls

• In-person visits — the heart of the program: showing up so no one is forgotten
• Letters and pen-pals, accepting and returning phone calls
• Sending Qur'ans, books, and study material
• Da'wah, answering questions, and giving the khutbah or a short talk where permitted
• Eid gifts and allowable items so they share in the joy of the ummah

When they come home

Release is the most dangerous moment. We meet returning citizens with halal work, a place to stay, community-service placements, and a mentor — keeping them out of prison and walking beside them until, in shaa Allah, they're strong enough to mentor the next person.

We serve any Muslim who reaches for help, reverts and born-Muslims alike, with brothers serving brothers and sisters serving sisters. Your zakat and sadaqah sustain the visits, postage, books, gifts, and reentry support that make these bonds possible.
