Marriage Introductions Desk

Marriage the way of the Sunnah, introduced with care and guarded by the wali.

A free service of Beckah Foundation for Muslims living in the USA and Canada. This is not a dating app. There are no profiles to browse and no chat. A small desk of trusted brothers and sisters reads every application, and when they see a good fit, they introduce two families: through her wali, and in person.

  • Beckah charges nothing
  • 18+ · USA and Canada
  • Fingerprint check for everyone
  • Identical checks for brothers and sisters
  • The wali is involved from the start

Our principles

Six promises we keep

These are written into the system itself, not only into this page.

Wali first

A sister’s wali confirms her application from the start. Every proposal goes to her and her wali first, and the brother hears of her only after both agree.

Her consent

Her own “yes” is recorded at every stage. No one is pressured, and she can stop at any time without giving a reason.

Every condition of nikah

We only help toward a nikah with a wali, her consent, two upright Muslim male witnesses and a mahr, with the offer and acceptance spoken in person.

In person only

No video meetings and no virtual nikah, ever. Families meet in person, at a masjid or a public place, with a chaperone.

No browsing

There is no catalogue of people. No one can search, scroll or see who has applied. The desk proposes; you accept or decline.

No chatting

A brother and a sister never message each other here. Any note goes through a staff member, and on to her wali.

You will not find anyone’s profile, name or photo on this website, and you never will.

Who can apply

Brothers and sisters who are:

  • 18 years of age or older, confirmed from a government ID
  • Living in the USA or Canada
  • Not currently married: never married, divorced or widowed, declared in writing and backed by a document
  • Known to an imam or masjid who can give a reference
  • Sisters: with a wali who confirms her application, or an imam acting as wali if she has no Muslim wali. Brothers need no wali.
  • Not open to anyone who is currently married, brothers included
  • Not yet open to people living outside the USA and Canada

One standard for everyone

The same checks for every brother and every sister

There is no lighter path for anyone. Brothers and sisters go through exactly the same checks, in the same order, with no exceptions.

  • Fingerprint criminal check from the government: the FBI in the US, the RCMP in Canada.
  • National sex-offender registry search, run free by Beckah.
  • Restraining and protection orders: a signed declaration with an ongoing duty to report any new order, plus a records letter for every place lived in during the last 7 years: from the county court clerk in the US, a Police Information Check in Canada (it shows peace bonds).
  • Identity, confirmed free: the fingerprint office checks your government ID, then a moderator of your own gender sees it on a short video call.
  • Proof of marital status and two masjid references.

How it works

Seven steps, each one supervised

Most files take two to three weeks to vet. Introductions come only when the desk sees a real fit, so please be patient.

  1. 1

    Apply

About 20 minutes. A sister names her wali, or asks us for an imam to act as her wali. Brothers need no wali.

  2. 2

    Her wali confirms

Her wali receives a private link and confirms her application. Her file cannot finish vetting until he does.

  3. 3

    Identical checks

Families have always asked around before a marriage. Our checks are that trusted “digging”, done properly: fingerprints, the registry search, a clerk or police records letter for each place lived, an ID video call, marital-status proof and two references. The same for brothers and sisters.

  4. 4

Proposed to her and her wali

When the desk sees a good fit, the summary goes to the sister and her wali first. The brother is not told anything yet.

  5. 5

    Then the brother

Only after she and her wali have both accepted does the brother learn of her and receive her summary.

  6. 6

    A family visitoptional

As families have always done, his mother or a female relative visits the sister’s family and meets the sister and her mother. Women only, arranged by a sister coordinator. If he has no family available, this step is skipped.

  7. 7

The first look, then the nikah

If she approves, she requests “the first look”: an in-person meeting with her wali present. Further meetings follow, and if Allah writes it for you, the nikah, with every condition met.

Step two

Already agreed to marry? Prepare your nikah.

Write down the mahr, the conditions you both agree to, the wali and the witnesses, so everything is clear and protected before the nikah.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is it really free?

Yes. Beckah charges $0 and accepts no payment for introductions. Your only costs are government fees for your own record, paid directly to the office: in the US, the FBI Identity History Summary ($18) plus fingerprinting (about $10–50); in Canada, the RCMP certified fingerprint check (about CAD 25) plus fingerprinting. For restraining and protection orders: in the US, a records search from the court clerk of each county you lived in (usually $0–25 per county); in Canada, a Police Information Check from your local police. Beckah collects nothing from any of it.

Are the checks really the same for brothers and sisters?

Yes, exactly the same. Every applicant gives fingerprints, is searched on the sex-offender registry, signs the restraining-order declaration (and promises to report any new order), brings a clerk or police records letter for every place lived in the last 7 years, shows their ID on a video call, proves their marital status and gives two references. The only difference is that a sister’s wali also confirms her application.

Why do you ask for my divorce decree or a death certificate?

Because no background check shows marriages. Marriage records are kept county by county, and there is no national database. So we ask: if divorced, the divorce decree; if widowed, your late spouse’s death certificate; if never married, your written declaration and your imam or masjid reference.

What happens to my information?

With your consent, it is kept permanently in the Beckah family record (Ansabb) to confirm identity and to record marriages, births and deaths. A confirmed nikah becomes part of that family record. Your fingerprint result, ID, photo and any declined introductions are never added to it. If you ask for your information to be removed, we honor the request as the law requires.

Will anyone see my photo?

Never on a public page. Your photo is checked by a moderator of your own gender and stored privately. It is shown only inside an introduction, to the other person and the wali, after the summary has been accepted. Upload a photo exactly as you are comfortable being seen in public.

Can someone who is already married apply?

No. The desk is only for people who are not currently married: never married, divorced or widowed. This applies to brothers and sisters alike. Every applicant declares in writing “I am not currently married”, and hiding a marriage closes the file permanently.

Can I search for someone, or ask for a specific person?

No. There is nothing to search. You tell us what you are looking for, and the desk proposes. You will never see a list of applicants.

Can we talk before we meet?

There is no private messaging. A short note can be sent through a staff member, who passes it to her wali with a copy to her. Meetings are in person with her wali or a mahram present.

I am a sister who reverted to Islam and have no Muslim wali.

You are welcome here. Following the Sunnah that the authority is the wali of one who has none, an imam or Islamic authority can act as your wali. The desk will speak with you privately first.

How many introductions can I have at once?

One. A new introduction is only made after the current one has closed.

Can I pause or leave?

Yes, at any time and without a reason. The other side is only told that the introduction has closed.

Do you help with visas or immigration?

No. The desk is for people already living in the USA or Canada. We give no immigration help, and money must never pass between the two sides.

Safety disclosure

Beckah Foundation requires a fingerprint-based criminal background check (FBI in the US, RCMP in Canada), a national sex offender registry search, and court-clerk or police records for restraining or protection orders on every applicant, brother or sister, before any introduction. We do not introduce anyone with a conviction for a violent or sexual offense, domestic violence, stalking or fraud in the past 7 years, a sexual offense at any time, or a restraining or protection order ever issued against them. Background checks are not foolproof. They may give you a false sense of security. They do not cover all public records, and some records may be missing or late. Always meet in person, in a public place, with your wali or a mahram present. Never send money to anyone.

  • Never share your home address, bank details or ID documents with the other side.
  • Anyone who asks you to move the conversation to WhatsApp or social media is breaking our rules. Report it.
  • If you feel pressured, unsafe or deceived, use “Report a concern” on any screen. Reports go straight to the founder.
