The Qur'an, as it was revealed

Read the Qur'an in the order it was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ — and watch the message of Islam unfold the way the first believers lived it: from the first call in Mecca, through years of patience, to the building of a community in Medina.

This follows the traditional Egyptian-standard order of revelation. Scholars differ on the exact sequence, so it is offered for reflection — the mushaf order remains the order of recitation. Each surah opens on Quran.com to read.

The first light · Mecca

It began in the cave of Hira with a single command: "Read." These earliest revelations call the heart to its Lord — short, powerful surahs about the One God, the life to come, and the soul's accountability.

The open call · Mecca

As the Prophet ﷺ began to preach openly, revelation answered the questions and mockery of Quraysh — affirming the Oneness of God, recounting the earlier prophets, and steadying the first believers.

34 surahs

Years of patience · Mecca

Through boycott, loss, and persecution, these surahs gave the believers endurance — drawing strength from the stories of Musa, Ibrahim, and Nuh, and the promise that this life is a test with a just end.

The Hijra· the migration to Medina

A community · Medina

After the Hijra, revelation turned to building a society: prayer and zakat, family and justice, treaties and trials — shaping a scattered band of believers into one ummah.
